Do you struggle getting children interested in reading? Do the children understand all of the different functions and forms of print? There are a variety of different ways that the children demonstrate their knowledge and use of the components of literacy. This learning event will explore those classroom activities to create a deeper understanding of what children are learning as they gain knowledge through play. The teacherýs role is more than facilitator, it is an active participant and role model in the childrenýs learning and love of literacy. After attending this event, participants will be able to list approaches to early learning, name components of literacy, describe activities that depict childrenýs knowledge of components of literacy, discuss the teacherýs role for each component of literacy, and match the research to each corresponding component of literacy.
Credit – .5 CEU / 5 contact hours
