*SPECIAL TIME TRAINING (7:30 AM-9:30 AM) – TO JUMPSTART YOUR DAY

Recent advances in science help us understand how exposure to prolonged stress can lead to
unhealthy brain development and the impact on the overall health of young children. This training
examines the damaging effects of toxic stress on brain development and practices that can calm the
brain’s limbic system when children experience toxic stress. Join us to explore how adult caregivers can
create supportive environments and experiences that help buffer and heal the adverse effects of toxic
stress.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
• Identify different types of stress
• Define toxic stress
• Recognize the effects of toxic stress on young children
• Identify how protection, comfort, structure, and predictability are specific practices related to calming the limbic brain
